Welcome to Archaeoinformatics.org _____________________________________________ Archaeoinformatics.org, is established as a collaborative organization to design, seek funding for, and direct a set of cyberinfrastructure initiatives for archaeology. Archaeoinformatics.org seeks to coordinate with and, develop interoperability of its own projects with other relevant data-sharing initiatives. It offers to work with professional organizations and federal agencies to promote policies that will foster the development of cyberinfrastructure for archaeology. ______________________________________________ Mellon All-Projects Meeting: Archaeology 3 March 2008 New York, NY The Scholarly Communications of The Andrew W. Mellon Foundation has provided assistance to scholars in various fields for the development of online resources that promise substantially to advance knowledge and scholarship. The Foundation hosted an all-projects meeting, in which project staff meet with each other and selected outside experts. The specific purpose of the meeting was for participants to exchange information, to facilitate discussion, to learn from one another, to compare procedures and methodologies, to identify possible collaborations, to identify gaps and possibly ways to work more effectively. _______________________________________________ Joint Disciplinary and Technical Advisory Boards Meeting 17 February 2008 Santa Fe, NM The goal of the Santa Fe meeting of the Disciplinary and Technical Advisory Boards was to report on our progress to date and to get key input that will guide the development of a successful implementation of a broad-based digital information infrastructure for archaeology. The meeting was convened to outline functional requirements and core technical specifications, to develop a persuasive plan for promoting acceptance and use of the infrastructure by the discipline, and to identify a financial model that can sustain the project in the long term. More meeting information is available from the links on the right Final report of the Board is available here _______________________________________________ Archaeoinformatics.org needs your help!
Archaeoinformatics Survey: Current Conditions and Needs in the Field As part of its initiative to develop a cyberinfrastructure, Archaeoinformatics.org is interested in obtaining input on the current conditions and needs in the field. To that end the consortium, working with the SAA Digital Archaeology Interest Group and others, has developed an online survey. We invite you to participate in this important study. As a small token of our appreciation we will offer 10 individuals who complete the survey a Starbucks gift certificate.
