Technical Committee Preliminary Recommendations

Joint Disciplinary and Technical Advisory Boards Meeting

17 February 2008, Santa Fe, NM

The approach to implementation is conceptualized in the Technical Committee's recommendation in two levels.

Level 1 consists of quickly delivering high level 'packaging' metadata for digital resources and contents of trusted repositories to promote metadata publishing and data discovery. A second component of Level 1 is the development and adoption of best practices to include workflows.

The follow on Level 2 will address complex semantic and ontological issues. It will develop and promote adoption of semantic web tools to assist in semantic mapping, semantic harmonization, and ontology development. It will also address the creation of web service architecture for analysis and integration of multiple data sets.

The presentation can be viewed here.
